Garonga Safari Camp is delighted to make the life of our guests a lot simpler getting to and from Garonga from selected airports across South Africa.

Garonga Safari Camp

Daily chartered flights are available from OR Tambo International Airport (Johannesburg) to Garonga’s airstrip with Federal Air.

This is a 90 minute flight, includes a ‘meet and greet’ if requested, and use of the Federal Airlines Lounge. Luggage restrcition is 20kg per person in soft baggage only. FedAir have their own Lounge which is about a 10mins drive round the Airport.

Flight and Road Transfer

Take a commercial flight with Airlink or CemAir to Hoedspruit from Johannesburg (1hr) or Cape Town (2hr 30min). Road Transfers can be booked from Hoedspruit (approx 80 minutes drive). Air Charters from Hoedspruit to Garonga’s airstrip are also possible (20 minute flight).

Winter: 17:30 – 07:00 (June – August)

No Guests will be permitted access during these times. This includes if you get lost or breakdown etc.

You will need to be at the Dirt Road turnoff by 17:00 latest in order to be on time. These timings are rigidly enforced and will not be compromised.

Safari Camp

Game drives are at the heart of the Garonga experience, allowing you to encounter the Big 5 and other wildlife up close. Your stay will typically include a morning and afternoon game drive in our open-air Land Rovers. Two of our experienced and qualified guides will lead you through the bush, impressing you with their knowledge of the great variety of wildlife in the reserve. Their tracking skills are exceptional, giving them the advantage of locating animals based on their recent movements and enabling your safari sightings dreams to come true. On a morning game drive, as the animals are waking up, tuck into tea, coffee and snacks in the bush. Then, in the late afternoon, sip on a cocktail or glass of wine as the sun slowly dips below the horizon. In addition to the Big 5 (elephant, lion, leopard, buffalo, and rhino), look out for cheetah, spotted hyena, black rhino, African wild dog, hippos, crocodiles, diverse plains animals and colourful birdlife.
